Creating a calm and characterful bedroom retreat
This project explored how Farrow & Ball's Selvedge could be used to create a calm, cohesive bedroom while celebrating the character of this Corbett home in Catford. Through considered colour placement, exposed brickwork and traditional architectural details, the scheme balances warmth, texture and timeless appeal.

A calm, cocooning palette
With the paint colour chosen, we explored several application options to see how each would affect the room's proportions and overall feel.
The chosen approach takes the colour up to the picture rail, creating a space that feels warm, layered and inviting while still retaining a sense of lightness. This balance also allows the exposed brick wall to stand out as a key feature, bringing character and texture to the room without overwhelming it.
Restoring character
To enhance the room's character, we explored different ways of exposing the original brickwork - from revealing the entire chimney breast to highlighting only the fireplace opening. The chosen solution strikes a balance between character and refinement, pairing exposed brick with a traditional fireplace to create a strong focal point while restoring a sense of the property's period charm.
Beyond the colour scheme, recommendations focused on creating a more cohesive and considered bedroom. This included proposals for bespoke built-in wardrobes, layered window treatments, improved lighting, furniture placement and carefully selected materials to add warmth and texture. Guidance was also provided on artwork placement, styling accessories and introducing natural elements to create a balanced, restful space that feels connected to the character of the property.
