This beautiful two-tone stoneware jug carries with it a little piece of British industrial history. Stamped F. S. Cleaver & Sons and made by Skey’s Wilnecote Pottery near Tamworth, Staffordshire, it dates from around the turn of the 20th century - a time when stoneware like this was an everyday essential in homes and workshops across the country.

Skey’s Wilnecote Pottery was renowned for producing durable, high-quality glazed stoneware for breweries, chemists, and general merchants. The name F. S. Cleaver & Sons refers to a London-based firm established in the 19th century, known for manufacturing soaps, perfumes, and household chemicals. Jugs like this one would have originally been used to store or transport liquids such as spirits, vinegar, or cleaning products - practical, but made with a craftsman’s care.

Today, its utilitarian past only adds to its charm. The classic salt glaze finish in warm honey-brown and cream tones, along with the original cork stopper, make it a timeless decorative piece - perfect for styling on a rustic dresser, kitchen shelf, or sideboard display.

Excellent vintage condition with minor age-related wear.
