A wonderfully characterful vintage wooden box originally associated with the American meatpacking company John Morrell & Co., later thoughtfully repurposed with internal compartments or shelves for storage and display.
Featuring beautifully worn ‘Pure Lard’ advertising typography to the front alongside charming pig illustrations, this piece has all the patina and rustic charm that makes antique utilitarian pieces so appealing. The rich aged wood, faded printed lettering and oxidised metal hardware give it a wonderfully collected feel.
The interior has been fitted with two slim dividers, believed to have been added later in the piece’s life, making it ideal for storing spices, toiletries, sewing supplies or small decorative objects. The proportions also make it a lovely styling piece for open shelving, kitchens or pantry spaces.
A unique decorative storage piece with plenty of history and character, well suited to rustic farmhouse, country cottage and vintage industrial interiors.
